E-Mail Scam Uses Zakat As Lure

The latest version of the "Nigerian Oil" scam (the latest in my inbox, anyway) has an interesting twist -- it's targeting Muslims, with a claim that the recipient of the e-mail was selected because, as a good Muslim, he or she would be certain to make proper zakat with the untold fortunes that he or she will imminently receive.

Insha Allah, I am confidently writing you on conviction of your information
which i saw online. I really have not been opportuned to meet you in person,
but it is the will of Allah that we meet this way. The fourth pillar of
islam is Zakkat of which i am happy to read your contributions. You will
make al Jannah Insha Allah. I am Mrs. Fatima Mohammed I am married to Late
Sheik Mohammed Abacha of blessed memory who was an oil explorer in Serawak
Malaysia, where we met and married for twelve years before he died in the
year 2001. We were married for twelve years without a child. Before his
death we were both devoted believers. Since his Death, I too have been
battling with both Cancer and fibroid problems. Recently, my doctor told me
that I have only six months to live due to cancer problem, though what
disturbs me most is my stroke sickness.


After the Hajj and Umrah in Mecca in 2000, we returned and Sheik made a
deposit with a Security company for was alive he deposit with a Security
company. Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to either
charitable organization through a devoted and trustworthy muslim that will
utilize this money in the Islamic faith as written in the Surah 9 vs 11 for
the purpose of my obligatory Zakkat, Insha Allah.

I will give you a written directives on how to fulfil this. The Holy
book emphasizes so much on Almighty's benevolence and this has encouraged
me to take the bold step. I took this decision because I don't have any
child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are full evils
doers and I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an
unholy manner. Hence the reasons for this bold decision. I know that after
death I will be with ALMIGHTY the most beneficent and the most merciful. I
don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health,
because of the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. It will
be of interest that you can kindly send your contact information. I don't
want them to know about this development.


Once I receive your reply I shall give you the contact information of the
security company and I will also issue a letter of wills authorizing them
that the said fund Have being willed to you and a copy of such authorization
will be forwarded to you. I want you and the charitable organization where
you reside to always make Dua for me. Please always continue to walk in the
way of anabi Mohammed Sallallahu Allahi Wassalam. May the Almighty continue
to guide and protect you. Finally i am not making you any financial promise
yet due to high rate of fraudulent activities, hence i am not disclosing the
zakkat amount too. Reply me once you trust yourself and in the light of
